May is my birthday month!
I enjoy birthday celebrations. They are a beautiful reason to come together and a special time of connection.
Typical celebrations include lots of food, plenty of desserts, and sometimes imbibing with alcohol.
These are times when it can be easy to go overboard and consume way more than you want.
But I believe in moderation with most things.
You don’t have to be a purist or be super strict and rigid to live a long, healthy vibrant life.
On special occasions, I allow more sugar (desserts) and a bit more alcohol than a typical week.
And when I do allow more than the norm, I’m reminded of how the sugar from the cakes, cookies, and treats makes me feel after a few days. Not very good – tired, sluggish, and feeling a bit more sad. Times of overconsumption remind me of why I follow the diet and lifestyle that I do – because it simply feels better when I have less sugar and alcohol in my body.
I’m truly grateful for the people, gifts, and blessings in my life (do you see this beautifully crafted, pink Chanel bag??? It almost looks too good to eat!).
I do allow some pleasure to come from food and drinks at certain times. This is conscious consumption and it serves my goals and lifestyle.
