Do You Lack Confidence to Cut Back?

Do you have the confidence to cut back on your drinking?  Maybe you tried cutting back before and it didn’t work, so you feel your confidence is low.  Or maybe your confidence is low because you think you will won’t be successful since you can’t imagine a life without drinking.  I was once there too.  I lacked confidence that I could cut back.  Where does confidence come from?

Confidence comes from your belief about your capability to succeed.

Moreover, confidence Is the belief that you can develop the skill/capability needed to succeed.  Often times, we wait for our confidence to just show up.  But we can create confidence.  It can be created by our thoughts.  This is where I help my clients – to develop their belief and change their mindset about their drinking.  Our confidence grows as we start to believe in what is possible and achievable in our lives.  From our confidence, we begin to get clarity on what we actually want.  When we lack confidence and clarity, we settle for the back and forth confusion our mind wanders in.

Confidence comes from your belief about your capability to succeed.

We want this and we want that, but we never make forward progress.  For example, we want to drink but we don’t want to drink so much so we stay stuck in our drinking pattern – making no progress forward to who we want to be.  To make forward progress, you have to start with shifting your beliefs.  One of my favorite quotes is: “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve” – Napoleon Hill from Think and Grow Rich.  What are you hoping to achieve with your drinking?  More importantly, do you think you can achieve it?  Why or why not?

The answer will show you where your work begins.
